Prep Guide
A few helpful tips so you feel your best and get the most out of your photo session.
Most of these are simply suggestions, but they really help the shoot flow smoothly and allow me to create the best images possible.
* Wear loose clothing to the session if you can. Avoid anything tight right before your shoot that may leave marks or lines on your skin.
* Bring more outfit options than you think you need. For a 1-hour session we usually shoot about 2–3 looks. For the 2 hour session we can go for 4-5 looks, but having extra choices is always better than not enough. We can always decide together on the day what photographs best.
*Having the 2 hour session does not mean you have to shoot as many looks either. One look is still great and we can work with layers, locations, props (your own) if you'd like. We can slow down and communicate longer for more clarity.
* Pinterest is your friend for inspiration. Look for outfits, moods, or poses that resonate with you. Feel free to send me some as it will also guide me to know what you are in to.
If this is a branding session, think about clothing that reflects your work, your personality, and the message you want your business to communicate.
If this is a boudoir session, choose pieces that make you feel confident, powerful, sexy, or playful. Even if that means wearing very little or nothing at all.
* If you’re drinking alcohol the night before, keep it light. One or two drinks max. Alcohol can cause puffy eyes the next day.
* Hair and makeup should be done when you arrive. This allows us to use our full session time for shooting.
* You don’t need to worry about posing. I’ll guide you through everything so you don’t need to think about what to do with your body or hands. That’s my job.
* Bring anything meaningful to your brand or story. For branding sessions this could be things like a laptop, notebook, tools of your trade, books, or anything that visually represents your work or personality.
* This is a judgement-free space. I’m a relaxed, down-to-earth woman and my goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable, confident, and celebrated.
* The aim is simple: have fun, capture some seriously good photos of yourself, and experience something a little outside your comfort zone.
* Pack your PMA (positive mental attitude). Life is serious enough. A photoshoot gets to be fun, playful, and a great experience.
